WIP: Run it, Run it, Run it (co-author)

A gentle squeeze of his hand drew his mind back to the present. Sonic inhaled silently and forced his flared quills to settle. At his side, Tails—alive and well and unharmed—smiled softly at him. He forced himself to return it. I’m fine, he tried to silently tell his brother. He was fine. He was. Sure he had barely slept since he arrived a week ago, plagued by nightmares and illusions, but he was fine.Tails seemed to have a sixth sense for when Sonic was zoned out or lost in illusions. As soon as the fox had laid eyes on him after his return, he hadn’t left his side. He was there to bring Sonic back when his mind faded into the illusions. He was there and alive and just maybe Sonic really was free because Tails was there and he was okay.

WIP: I Died in Fire and Flood

Rain fell hard as blackened clouds drifted over the land like smoke. Lightning flickered occasionally and thunder shook the air. The storm made the only noise; anyone sensible was tucked up inside, cozy and dry.Not Tails. He ran through the forest, using his hand to somewhat stop the rain from pelting into his eyes. The wind was too fierce for an umbrella, so he had donned a simple rain coat. It was partially effective, but did little to stop the cold. His tails, uncovered, had soaked through the moment he stepped outside.Normally, he didn’t worry about Sonic when his big brother didn’t come in for the evening. Sonic loved sleeping outside. But the rain had started hours ago, and Tails knew that Sonic hated getting his fur wet. So when he called the others, none of whom had seen Sonic, he elected to run out into the storm himself and find the missing hedgehog. His worry only grew with every minute of rain and thunder that passed. It was only the anxiousness that kept his fear of storms at bay. He couldn’t afford to be scared right now. Not when Sonic was MIA. And with so many past threats after the hedgehog, he feared the worst had come to pass.“Sonic!” Tails screamed over the wind. “Sonic! Where are you?”He heard nothing over the roar of wind and kept running.Somehow he found his way to the beach. He could see gray waves crashing against rocks in the distance, and angrily running up the sand before retreating so another could take its place. Sea spray made the air taste salty. Lightning flashed in the distance, and Tails flinched. He was about to head back into the forest when he spotted the small figure sitting on the sand.

WIP: The Icon

Lloyd’s hand drifts to where he keeps the Source Dragon’s icon. The small red blade is tucked safely in his gi where he knows it’s safe. He can’t lose it if he can constantly feel it. He hasn’t told anyone else about Motion’s gift; he himself doesn’t know how to feel about it. It was kind of her to give him a way to summon her if they need help, but at the same time, it’s another thing he has to worry about. Another artifact of great power in his possession. Another target.Tired green eyes rise to the never-changing picture of Wu staring back at him. If only his uncle was here. Maybe then, Lloyd wouldn’t feel the heavy burden of leadership as much as he does now. He would have someone to turn to for guidance. He keeps hoping that some of Wu’s wisdom he may have forgotten will come to mind when he looks at the portrait. But he can’t hear his uncle’s voice steering him in the right direction. There’s just…nothing.

WIP: Lloyd Begins

Lloyd was no stranger to death. He’d witnessed Zane sacrificing himself to defeat the golden Overlord. He’d watched himself head towards death’s doorstep when Morro possessed his body and pushed him way past his limits. He thought he’d seen the Ninja die when the stone colossus crushed the Bounty right in front of him. He grieved alongside his family when Cole fell into the Oni fog. He mourned Zane’s loss—again—when they thought Aspheera destroyed him. He’d been powerless to stop Nya from turning into the ocean and leaving them. He went weeks thinking he was the only survivor of the Merge. He himself had died before, twice.Being yanked off Riyu’s back by a massive, bloodthirsty dragon with a vendetta against the Source Dragons and seeking their attention by using Lloyd as a stepping stone forced him to experience death yet again. And he was the victim.
